Synopsis: Arakawa Under the Bridge

Kou Ichinomiya, a twenty-year-old student, has always abided by his family's strict rule of never owing anyone. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself in a dangerous predicament. Thankfully, a peculiar stranger named Nino comes to his rescue, claiming to be from Venus. Despite Kou's reluctance to be indebted to anyone, Nino insists on being repaid through experiencing love with him, leading to Kou living under the Arakawa River bridge with her. At first, Kou thinks he can find a way to repay Nino, but his plans are quickly foiled by the unusual and eccentric residents of the riverbank. These offbeat characters, ranging from the strange Village Chief who renames Kou "Recruit," to the seemingly kind but twisted woman in charge of an animal farm, turn life under the bridge into a colorful and bizarre adventure. In Arakawa's surreal world, no one can predict what oddball personality will emerge next.
