Synopsis: Chihayafuru

Chihaya's understanding of enthusiasm was incomplete during her sixth-grade years until she met Arata, a transfer student from rural Fukui prefecture with a unique talent for competitive karuta, a traditional Japanese card game. Arata's reserved nature initially belied his fervor for the game, and he skillfully swiped the correct card from his opponents, drawing Chihaya's interest. Similarly, Arata was fascinated by Chihaya's natural knack for karuta. The ensuing story is a captivating one, brimming with adolescent emotions and experiences. This manga won the 2nd Manga Taisho Award and the 35th annual Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shoujo and was a finalist for the prestigious 20th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2016.
