Synopsis: Fate/Apocrypha

The plot of Fate/Apocrypha unfolds in a separate realm from Fate/stay night, where the Greater Grail has been extracted from Fuyuki and its whereabouts have remained a mystery for years. The Yggdmillennia group, responsible for the Grail's theft, declares their independence from the Mage's Association and claims ownership of the coveted artifact precisely when the Fifth Holy Grail War is imminent. As a response, fifty magi are sent by the Association to retrieve it, but only one survives after Lancer of Black eliminates the rest. The sole survivor activates the reserve system, which summons fourteen Servants and sets the stage for the Great Holy Grail War in Trifas. The conflict divides into two factions, the Black Faction of Yggdramillennia and the Red Faction of Association members (save for one from the Church). The Grail summons Ruler to serve as a mediator in the Holy Grail War.
