Synopsis: Higurashi WHEN THEY CRY: Beyond Midnight Arc

The village of Hinamizawa suffered a catastrophic event two decades ago when a poisonous gas erupted from a nearby swamp, claiming countless lives. The aftermath of the "Great Hinamizawa Disaster" saw the people avoiding the place and trying to erase it from their memories. However, fate brings together five strangers on one fateful night, leading them to the abandoned village nestled in the mountains. In Yoigoshi-hen, a possible future outcome of Tsumihoroboshi-hen, Mion Sonozaki, a former resident of Hinamizawa, seeks refuge from the rain at the deteriorating Furude Shrine. On her way, she encounters Akira Otobe, whose friends vanished mysteriously. As they reach the shrine, they find other shelter-seekers, but a murder among them fuels suspicion and finger-pointing, particularly pointing to Mion herself, who supposedly perished in the tragedy two decades ago.
