Synopsis: Hikaru no Go

While exploring his grandfather's attic, Hikaru Shindou stumbles upon an antique go board and unexpectedly encounters the spirit of an old go master, Fujiwara no Sai, who had devoted his life to teaching go techniques to an emperor in the Heian era. Sai is eager to pass on his passion to Hikaru, but Hikaru shows no immediate interest in board games. However, Sai persists in his pursuit of the coveted "Divine Move," and Hikaru eventually agrees to play. As Hikaru gradually develops an interest in the game, he learns the basics and becomes inspired by his rival, Akira Touya. Determined to prove himself, Hikaru delves deep into the complex world of go and grows tremendously as a person. Hikaru no Go chronicles a young boy's journey of self-discovery as he follows his newfound passion for a timeless board game.
