Rei Inou is a disillusioned young woman who, driven by existential despair, travels to the famed Aokigahara forest ("sea of trees") near Mt. Fuji—known for its eerie atmosphere and tragic associations. There, she encounters a powerful, otherworldly phenomenon that sets her on a journey into the realm of the supernatural.
