Avery was born female, but due to certain circumstances, her mother made a deal with an earl. As the earl's son had passed away, Avery's mother agreed to raise Avery as the deceased son. Avery adopted a male persona, binding her chest and dressing as a man to work as the Earl's footman, a typically male profession.
