Synopsis: Our Colors
Our Colors is a modern saga that takes place in suburban Japan and follows the story of sixteen-year-old Sora Itoda, a talented painter who sees the world through a synesthetic lens of blue and red. As he confronts the emotional chaos of his teenage years, Sora strives to live authentically as a young man who identifies as gay, but societal expectations in Japan make this difficult. Despite this, Sora's closest confidant is Nao, a girl whom everyone expects him to date. Although Nao knows about Sora's sexuality, she comprehends the challenges he faces while expressing himself in Japan's strict society. Sora's perspective changes when he meets Mr. Amamiya, a middle-aged man who boldly identifies himself as gay and owns a small coffee shop. Sora and Mr. Amamiya's relationship grows as Sora shares with him his sexuality and agrees to adorn the coffee shop with his artwork. Mr. Amamiya serves as a mentor and provides Sora with guidance to navigate the complexities of staying true to oneself. However, their path is far from smooth as Mr. Amamiya's past resurfaces, revealing how unpredictable and intricate life can be. Mr. Amamiya paid a high price to embrace his true identity, a life lesson that Sora learns along his journey.
