Synopsis: Sakamichi no Apollon

Due to his intellect and wealthy background, Kaoru Nishimi has often been isolated as a social outcast, frequently changing schools throughout his childhood. However, upon beginning his first year of high school in Kyushu, Kaoru's life takes an unexpected turn. He befriends the class president Ritsuko Mukae and the notorious school delinquent Sentarou Kawabuchi, both of whom share a love for music. Despite being an honors student, Kaoru quickly discovers a mutual interest in jazz with Sentarou, who often skips class and gets into fights. One day, while visiting Ritsuko's family record store, Kaoru witnesses Sentarou's incredible jazz drumming skills in the basement. Although Kaoru is a classical pianist and knows little about jazz, the captivating performance sparks a newfound curiosity that leads him to explore the genre with Sentarou. They begin to practice together in the record store's basement, bonding over their shared passion for music. As Kaoru improves his jazz skills, he not only gains a genuine friend in Sentarou but also discovers the joy of playing music.
