Synopsis: Sand Chronicles

After her parents' separation, Ann Uekusa and her mother leave the lively city of Tokyo for the serene rural town of Shimane. Accustomed to the detachment of urban living, Ann faces difficulty adjusting to the townspeople's overwhelming warmth in her mother's birthplace. But when she undergoes a heartbreaking event, Ann acknowledges the value of their generosity.
