Synopsis: Subarashiki Kono Sekai

In the bustling Shibuya scramble crossing, a young boy suddenly gains the power to hear the thoughts of those around him. Equipped with only a mysterious black badge adorned with a skull, Neku Sakuraba is unsure of what to do until a girl hurriedly approaches him to form a pact to fend off the destructive "Noise" creatures that threaten their existence. Neku agrees to join forces with her, and she introduces herself as Shiki Misaki, accompanied by her faithful stuffed friend Nyan-tan. Shiki reveals that their alliance is necessary as part of the "Shinigami's Game," which requires their cooperation for the next seven days. Although they are trapped in Shibuya by an invisible barrier, Neku reluctantly recognizes the urgent nature of their situation and acknowledges that they must use their "psychs," abilities obtained from their badges, to defeat the Noise and complete daily Missions with strict time constraints. As they accomplish each day's Mission, Neku becomes increasingly suspicious of the Shinigami's Game's true intentions, feeling as though the tasks have no real purpose.
