Nevertheless, this cutting-edge shift also catalyzed the evolution of crime, as hackers, corrupt authorities, and other opportunistic individuals found ways to manipulate inventive systems for their own gain. Amidst the rampant criminal activity in Japan, the government established Section 9, an elite team of highly skilled operatives tasked with countering these threats. Leading the charge was Major Motoko Kusanagi, a fearless and tenacious woman who spearheaded Section 9's efforts to combat cyberterrorism and safeguard the nation's stability in the face of an ever-advancing future.
