Synopsis: The Poe Clan

In Moto Hagio's pioneering manga, the Poe Clan is a race of undead beings who sustain themselves by feeding on the life force of humans. The clan resides in a timeless rose village where time and space hold no significance, allowing them to endure the centuries. Nonetheless, Edgar and Marybelle, wrongfully initiated into the clan during their youth, find themselves confined in a perpetual state of adolescence, unable to move into adulthood without a fatal intervention, such as a wooden stake or silver bullet. Hagio follows the stories of three never-aging teenagers and their interactions with humans, discussing significant themes such as the essence of life and death, and the pain of love and loss.
